The connection to a remote system requires that an agent is running on it. The agent is generally installed permanently so that the connection is always available. Alternatively you can choose to run the agent occasionally. The choice between the two modes is done in the installation phase.
After the download run the file. In the first screen you can choose whether to make a permanent installation or run the agent once without installation. If you decide an occasional execution the system will generate a user and a temporary password to use in the login page in order to connect to the system. Deciding instead to permanently install the agent, when the installation is complete you will go to the configuration of the agent. You can choose between two options: Create a new agent or enter the installation code. In the first case will be required, in addition to the user and password DWService, a logical name to assign to it. This is the name that will appear in the dashboard of DWService. In the second case you have to provide the installation code of an agent previously created from the dashboard of DWService.
Our goal is to spread it as much as possible so that it can remain free thanks to sponsorships and donations (see Sponsorships and Donations). Otherwise we want funded it with some pay service or advertising services.
The easiest way to connect to a system is to login to DWService adding the # character followed by the name of the agent to your username. For example if your username is email@example.com and the agent name is MyPC, you must login with firstname.lastname@example.org#MyPC and your password. This way you will connect directly to the remote system. Alternatively, particularly useful if you have multiple remote systems, you can simply connect with your username and password to access the dashboard where all of your remote systems will be displayed and made available.
Simply connect to DWService website and log in. In the section "My agents" of the dashboard you will see all your remote systems. For each of them there is the pane of the shares. To create a new share you must:
Press the "+" button to start the wizard.
In the first screen enter the share name and choose if you want to give the full control or share particular applications by customizing the operations allowed.
In the second screen specify the period of validity.
In the third and final screen specify the way you want to share.
For registered users of DWService In the third screen that appears during the setup wizard for creating a share, choose the "Allow user" option and insert the DWService users login with whom you want to share.
For unregistered users of DWService in the third screen that appears during the setup wizard for creating a share, proceed as follows:
choose the "Allow login" option and specify a password. In this way DWService generates a user code that can be used with the specified password to access to DWService and start using the share.
choose the "Allow direct link" option. In this way DWService will generate a link to be included directly in the Internet browser to start using the share.
Yes, during the setup wizard for creating a share add "Files and Folders" to the list of applications to share. Then press the button settings to select folders to share and enable the operations allowed.
